Restorative Teacher Training with Sarah WIlliams

at Luna Wave, Spring 2027

We’re excited to share this Continued Professional development course at Luna Wave, led by senior Yoga Teacher Sarah Williams

Join us for this Sea front Yoga Teacher training now rescheduled for Spring 2027 for Yoga teachers, trainees and body worker and keen students!

How do you practise and teach restorative yoga in an overstimulated world?

This 30-hour course offers a comprehensive approach to traditional practices of rest and restorative yoga, complemented by somatic inquiry — working directly with interoception, nervous system states and the felt sense of the body. Rooted in yoga and backed by science, this explorative training puts your own embodied experience at the heart of your learning.

Through a combination of theory, practice and self-led study, you'll build the confidence to teach and practise restorative yoga with real depth. You'll come away with a working understanding of what restorative practice and somatic movement actually are — and why they give you and your students genuine tools for self-inquiry, not just relaxation.

KEY TAKEAWAYS OVER The three weekends

  • Experience the art of restorative yoga through practice

  • Learn ten key restorative postures, plus numerous variations and prop strategies

  • Learn how to sequence full restorative practices, and how to weave rest into active/dynamic classes

  • Explore stress physiology and the anatomy of rest, including the autonomic nervous system and its states of regulation

  • Learn a range of somatic practices inspired by Sarah's long term Feldenkrais practice] — along with templates and guidelines to build your own

Why is this training different?

Most restorative trainings go straight to the postures. This one doesn't.

True rest isn't a shape the body holds, it's a state the nervous system has to be guided into. Going straight into stillness can actually keep the body on guard: without first building interoceptive awareness, a "restful" posture can be held in a body that's still bracing, still scanning, still far from parasympathetic. This training starts instead with somatic inquiry; orientation, titration, tracking the felt sense, so that the nervous system is met and gently guided toward genuine down-regulation before a single restorative posture is introduced. The postures become an outcome of that process, not a substitute for it.

Informed by a wide range of movement methods, this training combines traditional restorative practice with rigorous somatic inquiry to create a holistic and transformative journey to deep rest.
